BIPE Project

Social and ethnic biases in primary education

The BIPE project investigates possible social class and ethnic biases in teacher assessments of the school performance of primary school students.

We analyse teacher bias using data from four countries:

  • England
  • Scotland
  • Germany
  • Ireland

We are one of the first multi-country studies of teacher bias.

The project is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and is being conducted by Dr. Katherin Barg at the University of Bristol.
